The City of Manchester Stadium has witnessed a thrilling encounter between the two giants of the football village, Manchester City and PSG. The two teams certainly had plenty of aggression as PSG beat Manchester City at the Parc des Princes 2-0.
In a perfect opportunity for revenge at home, Manchester City had a situation when trying to score too much but could not finish the net against PSG. Finally, the match entered the second half with the score 0-0.
It wasn’t too long ago PSG overcame the shackles and took the lead for the home team. The first five minutes of the second half, a good combination of Messi and Herrera resulted in a deflected pass that landed just before Mbappe’s pass. Mbappe made his own and hit a low shot between the keeper’s legs to make it 1-0 for them.
However, Man City had to pay the price too long for their hard work and outstanding efforts in front of goal. A brilliant Walker pass went past Gabriel Jesus and Sterling was there to touch the far corner and get the equalizer.
The equalizer was made with a brilliant goal after Portugal’s Bernardo Silva passed to Gabriel Jesus, who headed home to make it 2-1 for Navas.
City of Manchester
Ederson (GK) (6.4 / 10): Ederson has made some excellent saves but has not really been at his best. He let Mbappé’s powerful shot go through his feet and conceded a goal he could have handled in a much better way.
Kyle Walker (6.8/10): Walker was everywhere. He is running around with the ball while also making some good contributions in defence. He played a key role in Sterling’s goal.
John Stones (6.3 / 10): Despite his excellent passing accuracy, he actually missed when one of the errors in the box resulted in a shot that resulted in the home team’s goal.
Ruben Dias (6.6 / 10): Dias did not have the impressive game one would expect of him. He did a good job defending while trying to create a scoring opportunity, he was blocked.
João Cancelo (7.1 / 10): Cancelo overcame all the PSG players as he won 4 crucial interceptions to keep the ball out of the box. However, he lost control of the ball several times.
İlkay Gündoğan (7.2/10): The captain did an incredible job and is certainly a great example to his team. In the first half, he had a pretty tight finishing situation but due to bad luck, the ball hit the post and narrowly missed the goal.
Rodri (7/10): Rodri had a brilliant time on the field. He has a passing accuracy of 97% as well as a few scoring attempts but he is also unable to convert.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (6.4 / 10): Only started in the 54th minute for this midfielder. He didn’t have much of an impact on the game but he made a few good runs in front of goal but was saved by the PSG defenders.
Riyad Mahrez (October 8): Mahrez is undoubtedly Man City’s best player on the pitch. He continues to build on the pressure his team has earned. He had three hits on target but failed to convert to any.
Bernardo Silva (October 7): Silva was a bit involved in the second goal and won the game for Man City. He provided a great pass to Jesus, who then touched it past Navas to help the home team get revenge.
Raheem Sterling (7.6 / 10): Sterling was lucky to be at the right time, at the right time in the match. A long ball came to find Walker, who then touched it inside the box. The ball passed Gabriel Jesus and Sterling touched the far corner of the goal to equalize for Man City.
Gabriel Jesus (7.7 / 10): Mahrez’s pass to Silva, the Portuguese touches the ball for Jesus, then touches the ball over Navas to finish the net, making the score 2-1 for the home team. . An excellent game for the superb substitute, he showed no hesitation when it came to creating scoring opportunities.
Keylor Navas (GK) (6.9 / 10): However, the results were terrible, Navas had an excellent opening game. He made a couple of brilliant saves that were eye-catching.
Achraf Hakimi (6.4/10): Hakimi did a great job looking after the defense but he certainly failed to deliver an effective performance to give his team the edge over the hosts.
Marquinhos (7.3 / 10): The PSG captain has never failed to impress teammates and fans with his dazzling form. He made three clearly precious hits, followed by multiple ball and duel wins. He also saved two scoring shots.
Presnel Kimpembe (7.2 / 10): Kimpembe did an excellent job defensively, creating some precious clearances and interceptions. He certainly caught everyone’s attention with a brilliant save.
Nuno Mendes (6.8 / 10): Nuno Mendes is very quick with his feet and is one of the most active players for Paris Saint Germain. He did an outstanding job in creating precious spaces and winning tackles. He also had a sharp attempt on goal but was saved by Ederson.
Ander Herrera (6.8/10): Herrera had a pretty good game overall with his valuable contributions in several departments. However, he left the field due to injury concerns.
Leandro Paredes (7.4/10): Pretty impressive performance by Leandro Paredes. He has excellently kept his serve wins and won’t stop winning. He’s also done an excellent job in putting the long ball in and almost won all of his ground contention.
Idrissa Gueye (6.9 / 10): Gueye performed very well with victories in the ground fights. However, he was unable to deliver an effective performance and was therefore substituted after 67 minutes.
Lionel Messi (7.2 / 10): Messi made some amazing dribbles across the pitch. He had a good chance of creating a scoring opportunity, but his shot was blocked at the moment of attempting to take it.
Kylian Mbappé (7.3 / 10): Mbappé had an excellent game for PSG. He made some beautiful runs towards goal and was also off target on a couple of occasions. However, he was lucky to find a clearance through a defender after Messi’s pass. He was on his own and unleashed a sinking shot to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Neymar (6.6 / 10): Neymar made some valuable runs and also played a key role in creating a lot of scoring opportunities. He had a huge chance to score that he failed to convert and that cost his team dearly.
