UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou Not just a man among elite boxers but the Cameroonian heavyweight has his own bad blood, not with a boxer. After Ngannou left his first gym, MMA Factory to join Xtreme Couture, the head coach of his old gym, Fernand Lopez and Ngannou have some reservations against each other, which has led to blood relations between them, it’s only a matter of time how deep their feelings are.

Now, Ngannou will defend his title for the first time in a title unification bout on January 22, 2021, at UFC 270. And all of a sudden, he’ll be up against his former teammate and winner. Former MMA Factory coach Fernand Lopez, interim UFC- heavyweight champion Cyril Gane. This will be a clash between a fierce and precise power puncher in Ngannou with kickboxing, a versatile and heavy striker in Gane. Regardless, the fight still stands on the feet of the boxers.

Cyril Gane reacts to Francis Ngannou’s rejection

In an interview with UFC Legend Daniel Cormier on his Youtube channel, Francis Ngannou described a recent sneak incident that happened at UFC 268 where he was recorded by a media person from the UFC and Ngannou can be seen sneaking and walking past his former teammate, Cyril Gane and UFC Middleweight Nassourdine Imamov and his former head coach Fernand Lopez on his way to the arena. The rejection was quite unexpected because Ngannou’s manager, Marquel Martin, stopped by to greet Lopez.

“That is exactly what the UFC has been waiting for. When you watched that video, they were waiting for me at the corner,” Ngannou speaks as transliterated by MMA Fighting “It’s not like they wanted the story, bad blood – they made up [scene]. … What happened was this woman took us to our seats, [my manager] Marquel [Martin] and me, and she brought us to this part – and then they talked to her over the radio. Then she said, ‘Oh, sorry, I was wrong,’ so she turned around and we went back. [and they were there].

“Tell me how this turned out to be a coincidence,” Ngannou continued, laughing along with Cormier. “That’s what happened. I’m telling you what happened. … And when you look, at the time I come from [around] corner, the guy is ready with the camera. If you watch that video, he was above me when I turned the corner and just zoomed in on me, like, ‘Oh, he’s there, he’s coming.’ Like this scene. He was there waiting [me]. ”

“It’s not like you see someone and you’re like, ‘Oh damn, let me film this moment.’ Not available. His camera isn’t just there waiting to shoot something if something happens. No, he was waiting as if he knew who was coming. He knew I was coming.” Ngannou emphasized many times that all was planned.

Regarding the reaction of his UFC 270 opponent, Cyril Gane, Ngannou said, “Obviously, as his coach said, he’s naive, he’s naive, I’d be confused too because if I walked past Gane [alone], I’ll say hello. If it were just him, I’d say, ‘Hi, what’s up?’

“I didn’t even see Nassourdine [Imamov, UFC middleweight and former teammate], who fought that night. And I have no problem with Nassourdine, I have no problem with Ciryl. But I know the person next to him and it will be awkward. And if I say hello to them without saying hello to Fernand, and they respond, I think that could cause problems for them too. So this is a very confusing situation – like, OK, what can you do here to get out of here? “ Ngannou concluded.

What do you think of the reason that Francis Ngannou abandoned his old team? Who do you think will win between Ngannou and Cyril Gane? A rivalry between a former trainer and a boxer is rare, so do you see this ending soon between Ngannou and Fernand Lopez?
