Battlefield 6: PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch release date

Battlefield fans always think one step ahead, that’s why many have been keeping an eye on it Battlefield 6. The next entry in the series has some big shoes to fill, assuming it actually has an appropriately numbered title. But is there a Battlefield 6 release date on the calendar? And is there any word on the PlayStation, Xbox or Switch versions?

As far as we know, the developers at DICE aren’t working on Battlefield 6. At least, they haven’t mentioned it. As a result, the game doesn’t have a release date – we’ll have to hear confirmation first that it even exists.

With that said, DICE will almost certainly release Battlefield 6 at some point in the future. The series has been going strong for two decades, and there’s no reason to think that’s about to change.

However, there is still no word on when the sixth batch will arrive. That’s because DICE used a very confusing numbering system throughout the series. Eg, Battlefield 1 released in 2016, three years later Battlefield 4. And the latest series release, Battlefield 2042, fully released 16 years later Battlefield 2142.

In other words, the next Battlefield game might not be called BF6. Maybe it will be a new Hardline, or even a Bad company. Without knowing that the game will be numbered, there is no telling when the next game will release, let alone what it will be called.

Will Battlefield 6 be on PS4 or Nintendo Switch?

Whenever and however it may release, Battlefield 6 will likely not release for PS4 or Nintendo Switch. So far, no game from the series has been released for the Switch, and there’s no reason to think that will change in the future.

However, that answer omits a more obvious part of the question. We don’t know when Battlefield 6 will release, so there’s no way of knowing which console it will launch on. Sure, the sequel to the series will likely have cross-generational functionality with PS4 and Xbox One. But then the series will probably just be for the current generation.

Then again, by the time DICE chooses to name the game Battlefield 6, we’ll likely be playing it entirely on different hardware. Currently, there is no word on development, so no release date or known platforms. Fans will have to stress out the BF2042 in the meantime. Battlefield 6: PS4, PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch release date
