There are several creatures in ARK: Survival Evolved annoying as leeches. These slimy little invertebrates infest marshy areas and can latch onto players to rob them of their health and stamina. Worse still, Leeches can also attach to the player’s tamed animals to drain their health and stamina.

However, there is a simple way to remove Leeches from one’s character as well as another way to remove Leeches from the player’s tamed creatures in ARK: Survival Evolved. Instead, however, it is often better to prevent Leeches from attaching by taking some precautions.

Kidnap the player

Players with Leech attached to them can Burn Leeches by standing on a Campfire in a few seconds. This will cause the player to take a little damage from the flames, however, it is well worth getting rid of the Leeches, as the little monsters will drain more health over time. One can take Leeches away from other players by interacting with them and taking Lees out of their pocket.

Getting leeches from tamed animals

Players can remove Leeches from their tamed animals in the same way they can remove them from other players. Go to creatures with Leeches on them and interact with them to see their inventory. Remove Leeches from tamed animals’ inventory to remove Leeches from them.

Kill them before they attach

Leeches can only attach to creatures and players within melee range, so one can Kill them with ranged attacks to prevent them from becoming a problem. Unfortunately, these parasites are very small and sometimes difficult to see. Therefore, if the player is riding a mount, it would be useful to use the mount’s attacks to crush nearby Leeches.

Use bug repellant

While Leeches aren’t technically a bug, Chase Bugs will make the player invisible to them. The effect is so strong that the player can even come into contact with the Leech while the Bug Repellent is active and undetected by the tiny bloodsuckers. However, attacking Leeches will nullify the Bug Repellent.

Use flying mountains or high mountains

Since Leeches only appear in swampy locations, the player can completely avoid them by use a flying mount to traverse such areas.

However, if entering the swamp is necessary, you should use a mount that is tall enough to keep your character from getting submerged in the water. If the player’s mount is attacked by a leech, being able to leave the mount while still safely standing on its body can be a great way to get the leech out of the creature’s inventory quickly.

Using mountain animals from the swamp

Leeches will not attack certain types of organisms due to their natural immunity. Creatures native to marsh locations can pass through them without being damaged by Leeches, so it can be helpful to use one of those species as a mount to cross the swamp.

Traveling with a friend

While traveling with another human player, one will have a quick and easy way to get help in Leech-filled situations. Furthermore, the player can also help his companion by taking the Leeches out of them. When traveling through swamps, there is safety in numbers.
